Project Playground

In working-class districts across the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Africa in general, community sports facilities where children can play and thrive are virtually absent. Kids are forced to play in the streets instead, disrupting drivers and risking injury with improvised football pitches. Drivers generally do not protest against the behavior, acknowledging the shortage of social and sports venues in their neighborhoods. Often times, streets are cut off by youngsters playing soccer and residents learn to take a different route to allow them to play in peace. However, sadly enough, there are times when terrible accidents occurred.

Program Playground

One is left with the impression that residential districts are just blocks of concrete with a woeful lack of green spaces and leisure centers. It is about time we all did something to change this situation, which could have a terrible effect on children in this part of the world. Community venues are an important tool in the fight against juvenile delinquency and fewer playgrounds can encourage crime or fundamentalism. For lack of adequate facilities, youngsters tend to seek to fill the gap by other means, which can set them on the path to crime. Efforts should be made to turn the situation around. To this end, we accept donations to make this dream a reality. We have taken the necessary steps to develop strong strategic partnerships with financial institutions, intermediaries, and build alliances with government agencies to achieve our goals.

The Importance of this Project

Safe place for deprive African’s children to play. In addition, playing outside is not just about letting off steam. It is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance. It can also provide opportunities for children to learn and develop:

  1. Social Skills

when they play with other children they learn to communicate, share, collaborate and empathize with others.

  2. Imagination and creativity

outside play is often open-ended and children need to be creative about what and how games are played.

  3. Thinking and problem solving skills

As children assess risks and tackle new challenges they learn about having a go, persistence and perseverance and the success those attributes can bring.

  4. Sense of self

As they master new skills and play with other children they improve their competence and confidence in their own physical and social abilities.

  5. Sense of self

As they master new skills and play with other children they improve their competence and confidence in their own physical and social abilities.

  6. Sense of connection

To place, to peers and to their local community and environment. • Self care skills - managing physical and social challenges helps children to learn about keeping themselves safe.

Playing is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child.

Also, According to US pediatric associates, Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. This birthright is challenged by forces including child labor and exploitation practices, war and neighborhood violence, and the limited resources available to children living in poverty. Playgrounds are the first place where children begin to develop their social skills. Playgrounds not provide a sanctuary and are the first place where children learn to deal with other people, but allow children to learn valuable social skills. It is these social skills that are learned at a young age that will continue to play an imperative on their futures. Social skills are learned at a young age and will continue to grow and develop with the child. Children learn how to associate with others as they share and communicate with each other on the playground equipment. Playgrounds provide a stable starting foundation where bricks are added as they grow and mature.

Furthermore, young imaginations are also nurtured and matured as children spend time on the playground. At a young age, children are able to imagine fictional worlds and use the playground equipment as props for the scenario that they are picturing. Playgrounds are an abyss supply of resources that are used to foster the imagination of young children. As children are eager to head outside to play on playground equipment, their minds and imagination grow as well.

ASWA Relief

Playgrounds also provide a location where numerous young friendships are started. As children share time on playground equipment, they build bonds that no other resource can match. Children also picture difficult quandaries and peaceful scenarios where they help one another, in turn developing a bond that is unable to be emulated by any other activity Next, playgrounds provide an environment where they are able to learn and follow rules. Playground equipment not only provides an environment where they are able to engross themselves in physical activity, but it provides a place where children are able to implement the accordance of rules that they have developed.

As they practice on the playground more and more, they also learn the consequences when one of these rules is broken. Cooperation and self confidence are also developed as they bond with others while learning new skills and techniques. The time that children spend on playground equipment helps them to learn valuable life skills that are difficult to reproduce by other activities. Playgrounds help to provide children with a sanctuary where they are able to learn indispensable skills that will be instrumental in their lives. Nevertheless, because every child deserves the opportunity to develop to their unique potential, we consider all factors that interfere with optimal development and press for circumstances that allow each child to fully reap the advantages associated with play. We will make every effort to follow through on this pledge and on the timeline. Together, we can turn this promise into a reality on the ground. ASWA-Foundation has set a goal to install about 20 playgrounds in selected cities and villages of Africa by 2015 to improve the lives of youngsters. This project will benefit more than 2,000 children throughout the city. Sadly enough, this is where we are as of today! And this is where we would like to be in the near future; we are truly hoping that your generous contributions will help us get there in a timely manner.
